I was hiking with my parents and my wife Terri in Eldorado Canyon in late May 2010. The cactus and flowers were popping up everywhere. Literally in the rock wall! I liked the contrast of the soft flowers and sky against the rock wall face. This painting was a lot more difficult to pull off than I thought. The values of all the rocks are very close to one another so I had to be very careful when mixing paint.
This is an 8 x 10 - framed in a great frame from Manny's of Denver. This painting will be included in the Western Light exhibit at Earthwood Collections Gallery in Estes Park, Co.
