One of my favorite views - looking north from Dakota Ridge - I live close to this area, and I have seen some amazing sky's in the late afternoon and evening. The yucca plant makes for a dramatic foreground and gives the painting even more depth. This was painted alla prima (all in one sitting) as most of my paintings are. Sometimes I go back and adjust the next day while the oil is still very workable (wet). But I did not touch this painting again after I stopped.
