I called this painting "Dominant Flatiron" because this particular sandstone slab seems to be the leader of all the rest of them. I added a pretty exciting sky, and an interesting yellow bush in the foreground. I think the bush gives a painting additional depth. It is framed in a beautiful black frame with red undertones from Mannies in Denver. The flatiron rock formation is the backdrop to the City of Boulder and has become one of my signature local subjects, and one that I really enjoy painting. It is quite challenging to try to capture the drama and majesty of them.
